공공외교 에세이 공모전

숙명여대 TESOL 국제학대학원 국제관계학과에서는 외교부 산하 한국국제교류재단(KF)의 후원을 받아 숙명여대 대학(원)생을 대상으로 공공외교 에세이 공모전을 개최합니다.
21세기 지구촌의 화두로 떠오른 공공외교는 민간이 주도하여 외교를 이끄는 현상을 말합니다. 즉 일반인도 국가의 외교 목표를 위하여 대외적인 활동을 하는 것을 강조합니다. 이러한 공공외교의 의식을 학생들에게 확산하기 위해 공공외교 에세이 공모전을 개최합니다. 본 공모전에서는 한국의 공공외교 추진 현황을 짚어보고 문제점을 지적하며 참신하고 새로운 방향을 제시하는 공공외교 에세이를 공모합니다. 
제출한 에세이들 중 우수작들을 선정하여 시상할 예정이며 원할 경우 최종 제출에 앞서 요약본을 발표하고 평가 받을 수 있는 기회도 제공하오니 숙명여대 대학(원)생들의 많은 참여 바랍니다.

<공공외교 에세이 공모전>

-자격: 숙명여대 대학생, 대학원생(휴학생도 제출가능), 개인으로만 참여
-주제: 한국의 공공외교 현상에 대한 분석 및 방향 제시. 단 포괄적이 아니고 구체적인 사례를 찾아서 분석. (예를 들어 한식을 통한 한국의 공공외교 현황을 분석하고 문제점을 지적하며 개선책을 제시)
-분량: A4용지 7장 내외
-형식: 서론, 본론, 결론의 구성이 필요하나 그 밖에는 자유
-제출 방법: TESOL•국제학대학원 국제홍보•공공외교전공 이메일 (gsis@sookmyung.ac.kr)로 제출
-일정: 제출 마감        6월 15일 (월요일) 18시
          심사 및 발표    6월 16일 (화요일) 18시
          시상                6월 18일 (목요일) 18시
-상금: 1등 50만원
          2등 30만원
          3등 20만원
          장려상 10만원 (5명)

<공공외교 에세이 요약본 발표회: 선택사항>
-내용: 에세이의 요약본을 10분 이내 발표하여 최종 제출할 에세이의 기본 주제, 방향 등 골격을 밝히고 심사자의 의견을 청취하는 형태. (최대 10명까지 발표할 예정이고 신청자가 10명이 넘을 경우 미리 제출된 요약본 검토 후 10명을 선정함)
-일시: 5월 22일 (금요일) 오전 10시 – 12시
-참가신청: 5월 20일(수) 18시까지 TESOL•국제학대학원 국제홍보•공공외교전공 사무실로 발표할 PPT 형태 요약본을 이메일 (gsis@sookmyung.ac.kr)로 제출
-기타: 발표자에게는 5만원 참가비 지급

Public Diplomacy Essay Contest

KF-SMU Public Diplomacy Essay Contest is organized by Sookmyung Women’s University’s Graduate School of TESOL and International Studies (Department of International Stuidies), and sponsored by the Korea Foundation.
A hot topic of the 21st century, public diplomacy is diplomacy led by private sectors. In other words, the public engages in external activities for the purpose of the nation’s diplomatic goals. This public diplomatic essay contest is aimed to spread public diplomacy consciousness to students. In this competition, public diplomacy essays are to review the current status of public diplomacy in Korea, point out problems, and present novel new directions.
The best of the submitted essays will be selected and awarded. There will be an opportunity to present the abstracts before the final submission to be reviewed by specialists. Sookmyung Women's University undergraduate and graduate students are invited to enter their original written essay.

<Public Diplomacy Essay Contest>
-Eligibility: Sookmyung Women's University Undergraduate and Graduate Students (Individual entries only)
-Topic: Analysis and Suggestion of Public Diplomacy in Korea. Not comprehensive but specific examples. (Ex. Analysis of Korea’s public diplomacy through Hanshik (Korean food) with identified problems and suggested solutions)
-Format: Around 7 pages in A4 format including an introduction, main body, and conclusion
-Submission: Through the International PR& Public Diplomacy, TESOL& International Studies Graduate School (gsis@sookmyung.ac.kr)
-Deadline: Monday, June 15 at 6 pm
-Evaluation: Tuesday, June 16 at 6 pm
-Award Ceremony: Thursday, June 18 at 6 pm
-Prizes: 1st 500,000 KRW
            2nd 300,000 KRW
            3rd 200,000 KRW
            Honorable Mention 100,000 KRW (5 entries)

<Public Diplomacy Essay Summary Presentation: Optional>
-Content: A brief 10 minute presentation. Essay abstract presentation followed by directions and comments from specialists (A maximum of 10 applicants will present. If more apply, 10 will be selected)
-Date and Time: Friday, May 22 from 10 am to 12 am
-Submission Due: Wednesday, May 20, 6 pm, Submit a PPT format presentation to International PR& Public Diplomacy, TESOL& International Studies Graduate School email (gsis@sookmyung.ac.kr)
Each presenter will be provided with 50,000 KRW for participation.
